Language trip to Bray, Ireland

My class and I went to Bray with two teachers. Bray is a coastal town in north County Wicklow, Ireland. Everybody got a host family from our organisation, called SFA Sprachreisen, where we would live for the whole week, except the teachers. My friend Melani and I lived in a house with the mother and her four kids. They all were nice but not very interested, we did not talk much, but that was totally fine. Melani and I were happy to have a bed and something to eat, even though the mattress was very uncomfortable, and I felt metal in my back.

A big advantage was that the school was near the place we lived in, in contrast to our friends, who had to take the bus for a long time, but we just went for a 10 to 15 minutes’ walk. There was a Lidl in front of the Pace Language Institute, the name of our school. The name of our teacher was Jim, it was fun to talk with him. We also sang songs and played games. I think his goal was it to push our fear and shyness away so we could talk to him, like it would be our first language. And I think he succeeded; I would say everybody got more confident. He also said it would not matter if we make mistakes, we just had to talk.

Bray is beautiful, but small and maybe a little bit boring. My favourite place in Bray is Bray Head, it was very exhausting to walk the path up, there was a lot of sweat but that paid off. The view was incredible!

My class and I also went Irish dancing, to a valley called Glendalough, to the stadium Croke Park and shopping in Dublin. Furthermore, Melani and I got very crazy in the souvenir shops in Dublin, she bought every family member a sweater or shirt, this girl is wild.

Summing up, I am very happy to have been in Ireland. I improved my English and learned new things and places.
